Why StratAlp

Before the beta launches, a word on the angle that got us started: prepare to enjoy, not to set records. Performance may follow — it isn't the point.

· 3 min read

We didn't build StratAlp to make you run faster. We built it so that, deep into the effort, you can still enjoy the trail, soak in the views, without worrying too much about what comes next. Performance may be welcomed — it isn't the heart of the project.

Good preparation, to us, isn't optimization. It's anticipating enough that you stop thinking about it during the race. The plan, the pace, the fueling, the aid stations: as many questions answered cold, freeing mental bandwidth on race day for something else. The landscape. The fatigue. The silence past the col.

01 / Preparing to build confidence.

Prepare to clear your head, not to chase the clock.

On a short, medium or long race, part of the outcome plays out in the decisions: how much I drink, what pace I hold, where I stop, what I grab at the aid station. Multiply these micro-decisions by hours and you get a mental load you can't measure. The role of a written plan is to settle these questions once and for all — before the start — so they stop spinning in your head during the race.

Anticipating saves time, sometimes a lot of it — above all, it buys back presence.

02 / Getting to enjoy the trail

Nature is the reason we're out here. It would be a shame to miss it.

When the aid station is anticipated, the pace dialed in, the fueling quantified, there's room left for the rest: the break in the clouds above the ridge, the silence of an alpine meadow at dawn, the fatigue that fades into the background. Preparation frees this space. Without it, your brain stays glued to the next kilometer.

That's why we talk about outdoor planning rather than coaching. We don't tell you how to run. We provide the framework that lets you be fully present, out there.

03 / Prepare, don't optimize

A small step aside from today's tools.

Trail running already has plenty of tools focused on performance and analysis. Our place is elsewhere: preparing well to enjoy the moment. StratAlp helps you start with a clear head. Performance can follow. It can be a driving force in the sport — for us, it's more of a consequence.

We're aiming for a runner who crosses the finish line thinking « I'm glad I did this », not « I did worse than I'd hoped ».

What's next: public beta

These ideas take concrete shape in the app we're opening soon. Route import and design, segments, heart rate zones, quantified hydration and fueling, aid stations & support — each pillar answers a decision we no longer wanted to make during the race.
